ING’s Strategic Product Lead to Present on AI Innovation in Financial Crime Prevention

The Banking 50 is pleased to announce Merijn Olsthoorn, Strategic Product Lead for ING Global Financial Crime Prevention, as a featured speaker at the upcoming European Digital Finance Conference (TB50) on February 20, 2025.

Olsthoorn will share insights on leveraging Generative AI and strategic tooling innovation to enhance financial crime prevention capabilities within ING’s wholesale banking operations. His presentation comes at a crucial time as financial institutions worldwide seek to harness advanced technologies to combat increasingly sophisticated financial crimes.

Currently leading ING’s Generative AI initiatives in financial crime prevention, Olsthoorn brings extensive experience in RegTech innovation and digital transformation. He previously headed the commercial development of Blacksmith RegTech, ING’s successful KYC policy digitalization tool, which was acquired by Encompass Corporation in 2023. His expertise also includes leading Customer Success & Marketing for CoorpID RegTech, pioneering secure KYC information exchange between corporations and banks.

Before joining ING, Olsthoorn established himself as an innovation leader at Accenture Strategy Consulting, where he directed the Amsterdam Client Value Lab. He holds an MSc in Industrial Design Engineering from Delft University of Technology, specializing in User Interaction Design.
